Ms. Yamron ~ Fourth Grade ~ November 27, 2001

Here is our group poem, as inspired by the
words, "Michigan," "intelligent," and "Chihuahua."

In Michigan, at my home,
a tiny chihuahua roams.
The chihuahua is cute, but whiney.
He looks like a log, but is kind of shiny.

Student poems inspired by our Poetry Workshop:

The cowboy, Gee, in Texas is fast,
while the pig, in Dallas, wears a cast.
The ostrich, in Africa sings,
"When cardboard trees have wings.
Keys and wigs eat candy bars under the stars.
Paper and pencils have a good time dancing on Mars.
by Noah B.

A submarine was under water.
Five minutes later, there was thunder in the water.
When the thunder hit the ship,
they raged through the hallway
and tundra of the iceberg.
by Jake A.

When I was at a carnival,
I was shaking my rear
crazily in fear.
Soon, nobody was near.
I can't understand why . . .
Maybe it was that yellow and black fly?
by Dan D

I am poor.
I don't have a door
in the night.
I like to fight.
I don't have a pot
because I'm hot.
Oh no! There's a fire
on a pier.
by Matthew K.

I'm in the mood for food.
When I eat it, it makes me feel like a dude.
I like to eat peanut butter; it is very sticky.
If you see me eating it, I will be all icky.
by Emily S.

Once a millioin years ago, lived a wooly mastadon.
The only thing he would eat was feet
of a parrot the color of orange juice.
The mastadon's fur was full of luster
and when he hunted, he'd say to his prey,
"Hey! Buster!"
by Hannah M.

Bob's polka-dotted metal kettle
fills up water for his cousin, named Petal.
by Alexa D.

The military is writing
while they are fighting
and they have a tree
that needs a key
which has a cat
in the hat
and a dog
that looks like a hog<
and a bunny
that is funny.
by Ben N.

The pig was standing bright.
What a sight!
Then it made a hard thud
into the mud.
Making oomph after ooph,
getting dirty to you, but clean to me.
And it was just standing so bright
by the ray and the beams of sunlight.
He won first prize at the fair
for the messiest of them all.
Boy, I bet he can't wait for jumping in leaves
in the fall.
by Sam P.
